Sintra, Portugal - Tram to Praia das Maças

Following recent requests for clarification on the operation of this tram, contact was made with the Tourist Office in Sintra who advised as follows:


The Tram runs between Sintra and Praia das Maças throughout the year, operating from Friday to Sunday for the general public. The number of units and frequency of services depend on the time of year.

Ticket prices are:

Adults - € 2
Seniors - € 1
Children up to six years are free

From Tuesday through Thursday it is possible to reserve a tram for group travel. Reservations are for  3 hour periods. The trip from Sintra to Praia das Maças takes about 45 minutes. The cost is € 200 per round trip. Each tram has a capacity of 32 seats (open car) and 24 seats or 17 seat (closed cars).
