Now, once again I ask,  can we please have routes from Warsaw Modlin to either Lisbon or Porto and seasonally to Faro.

In the past 6 weeks, we in Lagos, Algarve, have seen at least 1 coach load of passengers per week, (buses with Polish Plates and brands) arriving, presumably having driven all the way from Poland!!!!
(48-72 hours?).

There must be a market for these routes!!!!!

Aigle Azur to fly to Beja International from April 2014

Portuguese Business Daily OJE reported Friday that French Airline Aigle Azur will start flights to Beja Airport in the Alentejo region of Southern Portugal
It appears that this may be a seasonal operation.

Lisbon airport to Badajoz ,Spain

Spanish bus company www.avanzabus.com operates three daily direct services from Lisbon Airport to Badajoz:

09:00 LISBOA AEROPUERTO. 13:30 - BADAJOZ

12:00 LISBOA AEROPUERTO. 16:30 - BADAJOZ

20:00 LISBOA AEROPUERTO. 00:30 - BADAJOZ

These buses are part of the services that Avanza Bus operates between Lisbon Gare Oriente and Madrid.

Sintra, Portugal - Tram to Praia das Maças

Following recent requests for clarification on the operation of this tram, contact was made with the Tourist Office in Sintra who advised as follows:


The Tram runs between Sintra and Praia das Maças throughout the year, operating from Friday to Sunday for the general public. The number of units and frequency of services depend on the time of year.

Ticket prices are:

Adults - € 2
Seniors - € 1
Children up to six years are free

From Tuesday through Thursday it is possible to reserve a tram for group travel. Reservations are for  3 hour periods. The trip from Sintra to Praia das Maças takes about 45 minutes. The cost is € 200 per round trip. Each tram has a capacity of 32 seats (open car) and 24 seats or 17 seat (closed cars).

Following the recent press conference giving by St. Michael of O'Leary and his "mea culpa" over the fact that his aggressive techniques may have contributed to the recent downturn in ryanair's financial performance, it was announced late last week that ryanair.com are going to make their website more "user-friendly" and start using "social media" to "listen" and communicate more with customers.

Sete Rios Bus/Rail/Metro Station to Lisbon Airport - Taxi Costs

Just a info quicky about taxi prices in Lisbon..

I had to get from Lagos to Lisbon Airport on Tuesday and on arrival by EVA bus at Lisbon Sete Rios Long Distance Coach Station my sore paw was playing up. So instead of waiting 40 minutes for the Aerobus to the Airport, I took a taxi from outside Sete Rios train station.

I insisted on him switching on the meter. I had to bags in the boot. The time was 12:00 midday. Traffic was reasonably light and it took us +- 12 minutes to Terminal 1 at the Airport.

The price on the meter was € 7.55.

We have a small problem in Lagos owing to the fact that we are in the Algarve and we are highly influenced by tourism. Menus are therefore adjusted accordingly.

Much traditional Lisboeta and Nortenha Portuguese Gastronomy is not really available here. (e.g. Açordas, chrouriços etc.) Remember that Portugal is still as it was during the times of Royalty! There is Portugal and there is the Algarve..."Reis do Portugal E Do Algarve"!

Many traditional "Portuguese" dishes are not available down here! Try to find a good "javali" (boar) dish down here!

Easy jet.com to launch Lisbon to Luxembourg Service from December 2013

It is reported today that Easyjet.com will launch a service three times a week from Lisbon to Luxembourg from 10th December 2013.

easyJet discontinuing flights from Lisbon to Roma, Valência e Oviedo

Low Cost Portugal today reports that Easyjet.com has announced it will be discontinuing routes to Venice, Roma, Valência and Oviedo over the next few months.

I understand part of the reason for these cancellations is the ending of per passenger subsidies from the Portuguese tourism authorities.

I am extremely concerned with the number of routes to Portuguese Airports currently under threat.

If airlines are not prepared to operate routes without subsidies and tourists are not prepared to pay higher prices to visit destinations like Lisbon, the implications for Portugal's tourism industry are serious.

Easyjet increases frequencies between Lisbon and London

Portuguese financial daily Díario Économico reports this afternoon that Easyjet has announced that it is increasing the frequency of flights between Lisbon and London Gatwick to 24 per week as from March 2014.
