Notes on Coimbra

I can also suggest looking at the Hotel IBIS on the riverside. It has a parking garage and is within an easy walk of the old town and riverside.
Also, when I visit Coimbra, I usually stay at the Residencial Victoria.
For us, Dona Rosa, Sr.Leopoldo, Silvana and all the staff were really welcoming and absolutely brilliant in April, 2012 when the accommodated the entire "Ops" Team for Dance Coimbra 2012.
Over 12 days they catered to our every whim. I cannot say anymore except I could not praise them highly enough.
The rooms are clean and reasonably spacious. The bathrooms and public areas are always clean. There is wifi throughout the building. The Food is excellent.

The Residencial Vitoria is incredibly well located in the centre of town and on the main urban bus routes. The Cafe Angola next door and other near by are useful when the restaurant is shut.

There are two parking garages nearby.
The Victoria is located on the edge of the old town and in easy walking distance of restaurants, Rua Quebra Costas and the University,
There is an good restaurant in-house and nearby several other good restaurants including A Cozinha da Maria.
Also, if you have a chance, visit the excellent exposition on Coimbra Fado, at Casa do Fado.
João Farinha and his colleagues have created a wonderful show case for the haunting and melodic sounds of the traditional Fado of Coimbra.
Centred on the haunting love ballads sung by the male students of the Universidade de Coimbra, one of the oldest Universities in Europe, (Older than Oxford or Cambridge),
this centre showcases this wonderful art form.
